The Tier 2 (general) is a temporary work visa, which requires a job offer from an UK employer. For the year from 6 April 2013 to 5 April 2014, a maximum of 20,700 skilled workers can come to the UK under Tier 2 (General) to do jobs with an annual salary below £152,100. There is no limit on the number of workers coming to the UK to do jobs with an annual salary of £152,100 or above.
You will be allowed to remain in the UK for a maximum period of three years and one month. You can re-apply and be granted a visa for further 3 years. During this time, you will be allowed to work full time for your sponsor. The current processing times are approximately 4-6 weeks. You need to be in your country of residency to submit this application. If you wish to re-new your permit, you may apply from the UK.
All employers who want to act as a sponsor need a license. Once they get a license, they are added to the register of sponsors and they are eligible to sponsor you under the Tier 2 visa. Visafirst.com can assist to organise the certificate of sponsorship.
Having a certificate of sponsorship alone does not mean you will be successful in applying to come or stay in the UK. You must meet the visa requirements as well.
