To be able to apply, your occupation needs to fall on the Shortage Occupation List or if it does not appear on the list, your employer needs to advertize the position for 4 weeks in the UK. You also must score a total of 70 points and meet all the other requirements of the Immigration Rules.

Points are awarded for certificate of sponsorship (30 points), proposed salary (up to 20), English proficiency (up to 10) and funds (up to 10).

• have an eligible occupation listed on the shortage list;
• be able to meet the postmark of 70 points;
• have a valid certificate of sponsorship;
• be able to show proof of sufficient funds;
• be proficient in English;
